Is model error propagation a completely foreign idea to IPCC climate modelers ?

Prof. Whiting, author of a paper in the journal Fluid Phase Equilibria, responding to this question, in part :

“ ... it is surprisingly unusual for modelers to include uncertainty analyses. In my work, I’ve tried to treat a computer model as an experimentalist treats a piece of laboratory equipment. A result should never be reported without giving reasonable error estimates.”
